I'll do my best, for photos, yet first I have to connect on a hunt, then putting a little teeny GSC through a piggy, that'll be the fun part.

Yep, that WILL be fun! The numbers you chronied looked good. As long as the accuracy is there I think you will do just fine. Please let us know how it goes.

For those who plan on playing with these solid projectiles, please PM me with your' location. I want to make absolutely sure that I am not down range from you!

i just recieved some all copper hp's from Twisted Barrels out of Wy.
i think they were 26 and 27.5 grainers.
loaded some up for the 17-204 and was impressed with accuarcy.
230 yard 1.5 inch group with the 27.5's and a 1.25 inch group with the 26's at 210 yards.
better than i expected. now that i see they show promise, will order some more for a (hopefully ) better load.

ramos,
I don't want to be down range of anybody shooting anything. Solids or not.
Plus, IMO, I just can't see a tiny 20 grain, very soft (pure copper), pill bouncing any further than a 150 grain conventional Nosler Partition out of a .308 for example. Probably much less. The physics just doesn't hold up. A solid will certainly have a greater ability to bounce than a frangible lead core bullet. That only makes sense. But we are only talking 20 grains here. Seems to me that a 75 grain chunk of lead and copper that fragmented off of it's 150 grain parent would possess the ability to go much further and be a much bigger concern.(?)

borkon,
Those bullets sound like they perform well. I'm gonna have to look in to those. I wasn't aware that Twisted Barrels made a copper hp .17. Thanks!

borkon,
Twisted Barrels offers some pretty cool stuff! I don't blame you, I would want to see how they perform on a coyote as well. Please let us know when you whack one and how they perform.

bado1, I completely agree about not wanting to be down range of anything. I have seen tracer rounds skip three times across a Summer fallow field and, that is pretty soft dirt. Pretty sure that was a 30-06. Was not my gun or ammo.

In regards to the comment about the solid being "only 20 grains"? Still lethal as all get out. Not bashing you guys at all. I simply have a different opinion. You have fun out there, will be interested to read about your findings .

I haven't tried any or Marty's 17 cal bullets yet but I have shot quite a few of his 14 Cal. solid bullets. I shot some of his 9gr solids out of my Walker at 4950 FPS, the accuracy wasn't all that good. His 14gr bullets seem to shoot real well out of my Walker. I did manage to shoot a couple of ground squirrels with the 9 gr bullets, I couldn't find anything to look at other than some blood, but they where only about 75yds.

I plan on shooting his smaller bullets out of my 14 AH, I'm hoping for a little better accuracy.

Bob
