Default 17 Ackley Hornet Pet Loads?

Would any one care to share there “Pet Loads” for the 17AH.
As much detail as you care to give.
Such as primers, brass used, barrel length & twist.

Try N120, rem or win brass rem 7 1/2 primer 20gr hornady 11.7 to 12.5 gr for about 3780 or 17gr hornady 12gr for 3900 fps These are out of a 24 inch CZ and a 24 inch bullberry TC. Hope this helps

Cooper Varmint Extreme with factory 10 twist 24 inch barrel.

20 grain VMax seated 10 thou off lands
12.1 grains N120
Federal 205M
Winchester brass
3750fps and accuracy in the mid 0.4's
Not maximum but progress past 12
grains N120 with caution.

I have recently found that 11.5 grains shoots
better (high 0.2's to mid 0.3's) but at only
3525fps the gain in accuracy is probably
no benefit over the faster load above.

25 grain Berger Match HP seated 5 thou off lands
11.2 to 11.4 grains N120
Federal 205M
Winchester brass
3300 - 3400fps and accuracy in the 0.3's.
Not maximum but progress past 11.4
grains N120 with caution.

20 grain VMax seated 10 thou off lands
5 grains Hodgdon Universal
Winchester small rifle primer
Winchester brass
2750fps and accuracy around half inch.
Nice quiet mild pressure reduced load.

I have a list 2 miles long for this round,if you e-mail me at microgun@gmail.com i can send it in an excel file. Note that some of these loads are not tested by me yet ,they were found on the net and have been labeled as such so proceed with caution!!!!!

So far my favourite loads for this guy, is 20gr. Vmax and 10.3gr. Lil'Gun for 3,925fps and 10.2gr. Lil'Gun and 25gr. Vmax, velocity unknown.
: Too, AA1680 works with both weights as well as 25gr. Hornady HP's, moly or plain. 12.3gr. for the 25gr.bullets and 12.6gr. for the 20gr.Vmax.
: All of these loads pretty much stay below 1/2", sometimes well below, in my CZ barrel.
: I use the same loads for fireforming and have never lost a case and get 1/2" or better groups with them.

Default mine:

Barrel is a factory 17 Rem 700 Stainless Sporter 'hacked' to 17 Ackley Hornet and screwed on to a CZ 527 action. Been to Montana 4 times I think. 4,000 plus rounds. It's probably about worn out. Shot this test group a few weeks ago using a 14x scope. I paid about $35 for the new take off barrel. Machine work is free,,self induced.
20 Vmax,,1680 powder,,Rem 7 1/2 primers.

Yup, I would get rid of it. Sure looks worn out to me. I'll send my FFL's address to save you having to throw it in the trash :>)

Default in the midst of loading,,,,

more 1680 and 20 Vmaxes in 1200 cases now. I'll try ONE MORE TIME to 'wear out' this barrel in Montana next month.
Sure is NICE to use a Lee Collet die on so many cases. I'd HATE to 'lube on-lube off' this many cases!

I'm here to help.
