Yes, that is correct and no issues with MY 22CCM chamber firing 22 mag ammo. The spent 22 mag cases looked like they was shot in a 22 mag chamber. I didn't own a 22 mag at that time but had the ammo....
I'm not promoting this just stating my experience. Also the rem 6-1/2 primers works good for me but so did the wsp like I posted with my old data.

Might I ask how the firing pin still hits the rim to fire a 22 WMR in a 22 CCM gun?

I believe he used a contender. They have a switch on the hammer to go from rim fire to center fire.

Also thanks for the primer info.... I note that the "Cooper" load data that 'Larry in VA' provided specifically recommended SPP and that their testing was with Federal brand.... think I'll start their and see how it goes. |

Ok, that makes sense.

I have never heard of "rimfire relief" before. I know the rim on a .22CCM is both larger and thicker than a .22 Mag, so there must be some sort of magic in this "relief" to make it work safely. For your sake, I hope so!!

And let not forget the fact that the CCM brass Schroeder makes has about .125” thickness of brass in the base area where as the 22 mag there is no base to speak of…. AND each contender may have different head space specs (between the barrel and the frame)…. Know your enemy…. A 22 mag barrel is cheap…. Reloading the 22 CCM is fun….
Time permits I may run some of those Hornady 30 gr V-Max bullets across the chrony this weekend… may need to check Midway USA and see if they have them still and order another 500???

Re: "rimfire relief" (my term).... for contender rimfire barrels this is a half-moon shaped milled out area (about 0.080" dia.) which extends slightly beyond the diameter of milled area for the rim and is located at the 12 o'clock position. This appears to be required for clearance for the actuation of the rimfire firing pin in the frame of the contender. I compared a contender 22LR barrel and the subject 22CCM barrel and the 'relief' seem to be idential.
