Ackley Cartridges
Now let's not stumble over the keyboard to be first to tell their Ackley story.

Read volumes I and II...and of course had to....
17 Ackley Hornet
22 K Hornet [not Ackley's but same theory] 250 Savage Ackley [now on my second of these] .257 Robt. Ack Imp. 30/30 Ackley Imp. 30/06 Spfd Ackley [tested/shot but didn't own] Reading about them just didn't to the trick so I built a few and played with a few. Still enjoy 17AH and .250 SAI. I think of all the posts and 'articles' I read about guns, two things stand out as most arguable....gun values, and Ackley's rounds [which always includes many opinions on what 'headspace' is.] Last edited by Alan in GA; 06-16-2013 at 11:58 PM. |

Still forming loads for it but have built a 6.5x55AI on a savage target action, shilen ratchet rifled barrel 30" long for Long range work.
Have been intrigued by the Ackley Cartridges and the old swede gains quite a lot from the straitening of the case and a 40deg shoulder. Also case life I have heard is very very long. I will be building a wildcat using this case, a 358 version should be interesting, about the same as a whelen (spelling) but will see how it goes, not really saubier specific, 224 grainers at around 2500 fps Ryan |

oh, does this count?....
I have a never used .270 Win Ack Imp reamer...? Always wanted to try a 270 Win Ack Improved. P.O. said this cartridge was already overbore....but PO did not have many of today's slow burning powders!
Hmm....I also have a never fired take off stainless Winchester Classic 24" sporter barrel in .270 Win. Might have enough barrel face after cutting the extractor relief off to fit to my Ruger 77. It's a short action but what the hey.... .... ... .. . This post may have caused a tinkering project....! |

All my Posts are supposed to cause tinkering projects. Sometimes I read somebody elses Post and I head to the garage to check stock. Stephen Perry |

Ha ha.... After I posted .... . . . .
I went to the garage, grabbed the 270 barrel and put it on my home office desk to 'think about'.
