The weight accounts for a lot in a bullet that "short" and from a 1:9" barrel it will stabilise from 1000fps.
From a 1:10" barrel it needs to go at least 2100fps and that might be stretching it.
Remains to be seen, my mould left Al 3 days ago and is now collecting dust at the USPS place i Salt Lake City.

They're heeeere!

I intend to make a lubricator but the reamer is'nt here yet, so no goo filled bullets as of now.
So the option is to hBN tumble them like i do with my jacketed.
Or people can lube themselves, depends on how desperate you are.

Here is a 25gr Hornady and a 20gr Hornady for comparison.

Default Bullet swap?

One for one of something strange in .172" I'll trade you 1 for 1 for a handful of something you like that I may have.

Cast soft they dont need a hollow point, just drive them a little faster.
Lead + 3% tin and push them to 1600+ fps and you're golden ;-)

But aside from that it's a bitck to cast for!
What is a blemish on a .45 bullet makes this little fart look like the dark side of the moon.

Have you heat treated any? Have you tried any wheel weights?

WW's has been a no go in EU for many years but i have a good stach of linotype and boatloads of tin so i trimix.
And no i have never heattreated any bulets as it is impossible for me to add Arsenic to the mix.
I usually run a Lyman #2 mix for fast bullets (15'ish BHN).

Either way this bullet is impared by the fact that it has no gascheck so dont expect to run it into jacketed territory.

Wanna try some?

As a starting point, here's some Trailboss load data for the 17HH using a Nosler 20gr FBHP bullet...

I would say the lubed NOE 32gr cast bullets would have a lot less bore friction... very interested in some chronied data for them!

Last edited by Tilleyman; 05-10-2016 at 03:03 AM. Reason: NOE cast bullets are 32gr not 20gr!!!
