Ron,
Where did that 35 to 37gr idea go?, 32RBBT SP is pretty damn close, how about just a full lead pointed tip on it, made with a nearly pure lead core it could probably get up to 34 grains easy.

So far there has been very little interest in anything heavier than the 32g.

Default New 17 caliber bullets

Ron,

I have on order some of the new 15 grain 17 caliber bullets and just finished shooting up the sample of 17.2 grain 17 caliber bullets you gave me - very good.

Now you are right on target with your 35 to 37 grain bullets, they will be the next I try. Berger use to make a 37 and then just stopped so we are cut off from the heavier projectiles. They also made a 15 grain but stopped those too!

I will put together a 17 220 Russian in the future and the 37 grainer should be perfect.

I thank you for being active in this space, you are filling a gap that is sorely missed.

John

Default I have shot the Berger 37...

In my 17PPC from a 7 twist rifle and they were stable down at 2400fps,I went up to 3900fps in my testing and the Bergers held together if I swabbed the bore each shot with colloidal graphite.I have also shot an XP-100 17PPC with an 18” barrel 10 twist at 1000 yards using the Kindler 30 Gold and have hit the target and sighters during the MOA handgun match. My point to all this is that I would like something in between 34-37 grains that would work in the Pac-Nor 8 twist polygonal bore.My thinking is while a 7 twist works better than the 6,it is still slightly too fast for our purposes with the 37 Berger, perhaps a slightly shorter 34 or 35 would work in an 8 twist.Chasing the 22 thicker jacket idea for 17 bullets has its issues as well,I really think what is needed is to keep the rpms down at a reasonable level.I like the idea of something a little heavier than a 30 because the energy would also be better out at distance. This subject is kinda like dancing on the head of a pin, very tricky but very interesting as well.If we could get PAC-Nor to make a 7.5 poly barrel and Ron to make copy of the 37 Berger we would be back in business again.I know this seems like a lot of random thoughts crammed in a short post but think about the potential of a 36-37 grain 17 bullet going 3900-4000fps.
Matt
