Heads up on 15.5 NTX 17 cal bullets
Had a notice that MidwayUSA has some in stock. They will go fast, so check it out if interested in some. Bill K After reading hemiallen's post thought I better make sure all know these are the bullets, not loaded ammo...

Thanks Bill
At first I thought your post was on ammo ( just got in from hanging a mess of plywood), thought crap Midway won't ship to us.... then realized it's for bullets. Ordered some, hope they shoot well in the 17 FB and 17 Javalena. |

Ordered a box from Midway, loaded up a few using 4227, Fed 205m primer,
.005 off the lands, and off to the range. Shot a six shot group in the low threes, five of which which have been around .250" Didn't take the chron. but suspect they were around 3700. Previously tried the 20 Lehigh non-lead and they perform quite well but not as good as the NTX which are also a lot cheaper. One thing I did notice was that the recoil was noticeable different than with 20r. lead bullets. Bob |

I went ahead and order in 1000 for starters, so I am set for Commie California's lead ban July-2019 . But actually, in this case, these 15.5 Hornady NTX's are shooting as well or better, accuracy and FPS than the lead one's did anyway. Will be adding more shortly to the supply. Bill K

bob you didn't say what cartridge you were shooting the bullet in. also how was the recoil different, more or less? sounds like it would be a cracker jack jack rabbit bullet for short to mid range, velocity is going to drop quickly at that weight.
shot a coyote thru the shoulder blade with a 15 gr Berger hp while calling fox once. the bullet blew a hole big enough you could stick 2 fingers in it thru the blade and went into the lungs. he stood up on his hind legs and fell over backwards drt.

It’s a cooper 17 AH
Of course the 17 has little recoil to begin but with the smaller bullet it seem like it is a little less. In any event it is a little different but in a good way. With these bullet now readily available the cal lead ban is not going to be a problem |

Does anyone know how these compare in length with the Hornady 20 grain V-Max or the 25 grain HP bullets?

I measure 0.588 on the 15.5, 0.590 on the z-max 20 grain and 0.560 on the berger 25 grain. Bill K
