What do I have??
My son was given this rifle. Appears to be a Stevens, cartridge is compared to a 22 K hornet. .952 inches long. I thought a 22 Squirrel but is it too short for a Squirrel?

Take some measurements and look up:
22 Snapper (Long and short?) 22 Kay-Chuck, or K-Chuck, and a shorter "Junior" version These are shortened, improved hornets. Bruce Last edited by bcp; 06-09-2019 at 03:48 AM. |

And don't forget there is a 22 Ackley Hornet as well as the 22 K Hornet.

Unique looking little Stevens with a unique looking little round. does that rear scope mount have another about 7.2" further out. Was just wondering if the rifle once had a Unertl type scope on it. Do you have any pictures of the full rifle?
This is some small hornet based cartridge pictures -- not sure there is a match to your little cartridge but the second cartridge in from the left looks close. Last edited by 22_boomer; 06-09-2019 at 12:43 PM. |

Sorry, not my picture --- found it on a another site. I did find an article from here on Saubier about the .17 squirrel which I would imagine to be about the same length case at 0.995". Hope this is of some help.

Maybe the barrel is marked under the forearm?

Do a chamber cast, get good measurements and/or send it to Redding, attn AJ at tech. I bet they have a diagram that matches...and if not will be able to quote dies, if interested.

Action strength for any centerfire? Was it converted from rimfire to centerfire?
Is it a true falling block or similar to the old Favorite? |

What is stamped on the barrel? I can't quite see the characters, but it looks like .224 J.
